HearSay                    December 2016

The holiday season gives us so much to celebrate at MOSD…..especially the number of words we are hearing as children prepare their lists for Santa!  There are toys and cookies, and clothes, and elves, and presents to make…..soooo many things motivate our children to talk.  And these words are lovingly coaxed and encouraged by our dedicated staff of teachers, audiologists, and speech pathologists who spend their days modeling language and speech for our children.

“Elf on a Shelf” has taken the world by storm.  He appears in homes right after Thanksgiving and stays until Christmas Eve when he or she returns to help Santa at the North Pole.  The Elf also resides in our classrooms and somehow makes mischief every night.  Each day the children eagerly arrive to find some spill, or accident, or mess made by the Elf….and they begin the day chattering away about his latest adventure!

MOSD is ALWAYS a special place….but during the holidays it is a magical place!  From the beautiful decorations provided by our own MOSD Elves, who volunteer to create a wonderland here while we are out for Thanksgiving Break…..to the true miracle of hearing a deaf child tell Santa what she wants for Christmas…..all of this is possible because of YOUR support.  THANK YOU for empowering deaf children to listen, learn, and talk at MOSD.  Your gifts are making a difference!
