Empowering deaf children to learn to listen and talk

Memphis Oral School for the Deaf offers additional services to those in the community. These are designed to help our current students, former students, and the community.

Mainstream Consultation Services

Memphis Oral School for the Deaf offers mainstream support services, on a contractual basis, to parents and school districts throughout the Mid-South area. These services include:

  • Comprehensive educational evaluations
  • Classroom observations, teacher consultations & in-service training
  • Written follow-up reports
  • Periodic telephone contacts

The MOSD mainstream coordinator is available to attend IEP (individual education plan) meetings, assist in drawing up appropriate educational plans, make suggestions on how to best use available resources, and coordinate classroom and support service efforts.

Professional Outreach

MOSD serves as a practicum site for speech therapy, audiology, education and special education students from area colleges and universities. In addition, MOSD serves as an observation site for nursing students and medical residents. To learn more about this opportunity, please contact the school at (901) 758-2228.
