IRIS Orchestra Combines Literacy & Listening Skills

The kids and teachers had a hoedown when IRIS Orchestra visited MOSD! IRIS Orchestra musicians Marcin and Rebecca Arendt brought a barnyard dance book that included a lot of fun activities that tied barnyard animals together with music and dancing. They also learned about rhythm with boomwhackers - check out the video below!

These visits from IRIS create very unique opportunities for the children to interact with world-class musicians from our own community. IRIS Orchestra, currently in their 20th season, is a community of virtuosic musicians drawn from the leading orchestras, universities, and chamber groups in the country, and is the resident orchestra at the Germantown Performing Arts Center in Germantown, Tennessee.

MOSD is so excited to continue our program with IRIS Orchestra and we are so thankful for the GPAC Arts Education Fund that makes this program possible! Click HERE to see more pictures and videos!
