Our mission at Memphis Oral School for the Deaf is empowering deaf children to listen, learn, and talk.  Our vision is to serve all children with hearing loss  and to prepare them for successful entry into kindergarten with speech and language skills that will enable them to develop literacy skills, communicate verbally with their hearing peers, and achieve success in their academic and career goals.

  • Speech & Hearing Center of the Mid-South dba Memphis Oral School for the Deaf (MOSD) is a non-profit organization that aims to Empower Deaf Children to Listen, Learn and Talk. MOSD is an early education intervention auditory-verbal clinical educational program focusing on developing listening and spoken language skills (LSL) in children who are deaf and hard of hearing. MOSD has four different programs to serve clients: Sound Beginnings (age 0-2), Sound Transitions (age 1.5-3), Sound Voyagers – Language Development program for hearing children (age 3-4), Sound Plus – Total Communication Program for children on the spectrum (age 3-4), MOSD Pre-School (age 2-5), and Outside Clients (All ages).

  • Memphis Oral School for the Deaf (MOSD), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering deaf and hard-of-hearing children to develop listening and spoken language skills, is seeking a full-time Teacher Assistant. Reporting to the Director of Educational Services, this position supports classroom teachers in providing high-quality early education intervention through a comprehensive auditory-verbal program. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom management, planning activities, preparing materials, and supervising students throughout the day. Ideal candidates must have a High School Diploma or CDA and at least one year of experience working with children. Strong organizational skills, a positive energy, and an encouraging attitude are essential.
